(1) Physical properties
It is a non-toxic, odorless, and tasteless milky white highly crystalline polymer with a relative molecular mass of about 80,000 to 150,000.
Low density: 0.90~.091g/cm3, which is one of the lightest varieties in plastics.
Strong hydrophobicity: the water absorption rate in 24h in water is only 0.01%.
Formability is good, but the shrinkage rate is large, and thick-walled products are easy to sink.
The surface of the product has good gloss and is easy to color.
(2) Mechanical properties
Polypropylene has high crystallinity and regular structure, so it has excellent mechanical properties. Its strength, hardness and elasticity are higher than HDPE; at room temperature and low temperature, due to its high molecular structure regularity, its impact strength is poor, and its molecular weight When it increases, the impact strength also increases, but the molding processability deteriorates.
The most outstanding performance of PP is its resistance to bending fatigue. For example, a PP-injected integral living hinge can withstand 7×107 times of opening and closing folding and bending without damage. The coefficient of dry friction is similar to that of nylon, but under oil lubrication, it is not as good as nylon.
(3) Thermal performance
PP has good heat resistance, melting point is 164~170℃; products can be disinfected and sterilized at a temperature above 100℃, and will not be deformed at 150℃ under no external force. The embrittlement temperature is -35℃, and embrittlement will occur below -35℃, and the cold resistance is not as good as polyethylene.
(4) Chemical stability
The chemical stability of polypropylene is very good, except that it can be corroded by concentrated sulfuric acid and concentrated nitric acid, it is relatively stable to other chemical reagents. Low molecular weight aliphatic hydrocarbons, aromatic hydrocarbons and chlorinated hydrocarbons can soften and swell PP.
Its chemical stability increases with the increase of crystallinity, so polypropylene is suitable for making various chemical pipelines and fittings, and has good anti-corrosion effects.
(5) Electrical performance
Polypropylene has excellent high-frequency insulation properties; it has a high dielectric coefficient, and can be used to make heated electrical insulation products as the temperature rises; its breakdown voltage is also high, and it is suitable for electrical accessories.
Good resistance to voltage, arc resistance, high static electricity; easy to aging in contact with copper (commonly known as copper damage).
(6) Weather resistance
Polypropylene is very sensitive to ultraviolet rays. Adding zinc oxide, dilauryl thiopropionate, carbon black or similar milky fillers can improve its aging resistance.
Polyrocks Chemical Flame Retardant Polypropylene
Polyrocks Chemical 'High rigidity & Anti-UV HFFR PP V0' is a kind of conformal halogen-free flame-retardant polypropylene (PP) material with phosphorus and nitrogen as flame-retardant elements. It plays a flame-retardant effect by the mechanism of char formation and expansion. The flame retardancy of the product reaches UL94-V0 (0.75mm, 1.5mm and 3.0mm), and the glow wire test meets GWIT750℃ and GWFI850℃. It has the characteristics of low density of flame-retardant products, low smoke emission, and low mold corrosion. 'High rigidity & Anti-UV HFFR PP V0' has passed the UL certification, and meets the product requirements of RoHS, SVHC, PFOS&PFOA, 16P, Halogen-free, PAHs and other regulations.
